Storage & Distribution

World leading solutions for the storage and distribution of pharmaceutical grade purified water and water for injection.

Puretech’s innovative storage and distribution solutions are designed to minimise space requirements by integrating all of the technologies, instruments and controls within a single skid.

Once pure water or water for injection (WFI) has been generated it is imperative that it is stored and distributed to the points of use correctly to ensure no contamination occurs, as this could have severe consequences.

At Puretech we appreciate the necessity of maintaining the water’s integrity and are fastidious  in the design and execution of our storage and distribution systems. It is of vital importance to minimise possible contamination of the water and the proliferation of micro-organisms. Systems must therefore be sealed with continuous recirculation and must have a sanitisation system.

Puretech compact modular design delivers the required quality and quantity of pharmacopoeial water to the user, the standard distribution system within a single skid.

Our distribution solutions minimise space requirements by integrating all of the technologies, instruments and controls within a single package. Our systems are designed and engineered to give reliable operation, ongoing monitoring, whilst maintaining optimal energy efficiency, lowering operating costs without compromising quality.

All of our distribution skids are designed specifically for individual clients with many options available to them, including a choice between thermal or ozone sanitisation, and additional monitoring such as, Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and online microbial monitoring.

Purified water and WFI storage and distribution skids

Puretech ensures that the equipment which comes into contact with the purified water is comprised of 316L stainless steel, ideally with internal surfaces polished to below 0.8 µm (ASME BPE). All elements in contact with the water are of the sanitary type, and connections are made by orbital welding or by tri-clamp connections.

Each Puretech storage and distribution system is bespoke to the client, hand built at our facility in the UK, but the main components are:

  • Storage Tank
  • Impeller Pump
  • Heat Exchanger
  • Ultraviolet Radiation Equipment (In purified water only)
  • Main instrumentation:
    • Level Transmitter
    • Conductivity sensor
    • Flow Meter
    • Temperature Probe
    • Pressure Transmitters
  • Control Panel

Purified water and WFI distribution loops

Puretech ensures that the water distribution loop is 100% drainable so it is designed with a gradient towards the point of use – therefore in the event of an installation shutdown no water will be retained.

In order to reduce the risk of contamination, the water circulates in the pipe in a turbulent flow. The loops are insulated to minimise heat loss and this achieves considerable energy savings.

The fixing of the installation use hex type sanitary pipe hangers covered with polymer material (according to the temperature) to minimise the risk of external corrosion to the pipe.

Each Puretech purified water or WFI distribution loop is bespoke to the client, hand built at our facility in the UK, but the main components are:

  • Pipe
  • Fittings
  • Point of use valves (diaphragm type)

Pure steam distribution systems

Puretech pure steam distribution systems are designed so that the least quantity of condensates enters the equipment to be sterilised. Components in contact with clean steam are comprised of 316L stainless steel, ideally with internal surfaces polished to below 0.8 µm (ASME BPE). All elements in contact with the steam are of the sanitary type, and connections are made by orbital welding or by tri-clamp connections.

This distribution is well insulated to minimises heat loss and the production of condensate, as well as achieving energy savings.

Each Puretech clean steam network is bespoke to the client, hand built at our facility in the UK, but the main components are:

  • Piping
  • Fittings (elbows, tees etc.)
  • Point of use valves
  • Steam traps

AstraZeneca Research and Development Centre

Puretech engineered and installed a purified water to system at the AstraZeneca Research and Development Centre, Cambridge , taking raw water from the mains through pre-treatment and purification using OASYS units. The purified water, which is stored in a 5000-litre tank, is distributed via a stainless-steel ring main to user points in the laboratories
